Electrocatalytic Cell Design (2020)

Solidworks render of cell

All the parts involved in the cell design

Motivation:

This cell was designed for my research project with the MIT Electrochemical Energy lab.

Description:

This cell is used to do high throughput testing on electrocatalysts. Samples are placed on a conductive glass slide. This slide needed to protrude from the cell for a wire to be connected to it. A gasket seals this off from the rest of the cell.  Two probes needed to be submerged in the testing solution; these can be seen in the top of the cell. The cell is made from Teflon to withstand various testing conditions.

Lessons Learned:

I learned about designing something from external specifications. I learned about ordering parts from a machine shop.
