Glass Laser Etching (2022)

Motivation:

I wanted to learn to use the 3rd axis on the laser engraver and try etching glass.

Description:

The pint glass was etched on a 120W Epilogue fusion M2 with a 2” lens at default settings. I came back and tried two more.

Lessons Learned:

Not so much of a lesson, but I would like to try calibrating a file so that I can have designs wrap all the way around. I want to try and find a way to do larger designs without too much distortion. The glass seems to etch the best at 600dpi. 300dpi was not enough (cow) and 1200 dpi was too much (rusteez). Surprisingly, the laser etched map that I did almost 6 months earlier turned out better.
